Welcome, Seth Adams

Welcome, Seth Adams

Callum Emery11 Jun 2024 - 15:40

Dearne Valley RUFC announce their first new signing of the 2024-25 season, with former Doncaster Knights and Doncaster Pheonix player joining ranks.

Dearne Valley RUFC are pleased to announce that fly half, Seth Adams, has signed for the club for the 2024-25 season.

Seth made a single appearance for Dearne Valley RUFC off the replacements bench against Mosborough last season, simply as a last minute call up following a range of injuries resulting in last minute team changes. However, the talented number 10 has agreed to sign on for next season and will no doubt help push the side on as they compete in the Yorkshire League.

"Seth is an exciting talent and has a great passing and running game, along with the core skills you want from a fly half such as solid kicking skills and sound game management", said Head Coach Callum Emery. He continued, "fly half is an area we need to have more depth in the squad, so we were always on the look out for another number 10 to play alongside Stephen Shaw but securing Seth's services is a huge opportunity we didn't necessarily expect!"

Seth is a local lad, having played his junior rugby at Rotherham Pheonix and Wath-Upon-Dearne RUFC. He then went on to become a member of the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy and Doncaster Knights Academy, representing South Yorkshire and Yorkshire at multiple age grades in the process. He most recently played his trade at Doncaster Pheonix in National 3 North and the North East One Division. He was also a member of the Doncaster Knights squad and made a number of pre-season appearances for their first team, including starting against Sale in a pre-season victory and finishing the game with a 100% kicking record.

However, his Rugby aspirations were put on hold when he joined the British Army. He is a current serving member in the Household Cavalry within The Blues and Royals Regiment. When he isn't in London on duty, Seth will be back up north putting on the black and white jersey alongside his brothers and current Dearne Valley RUFC players, Archie and Will.

Club president, Kev Horrobin, spoke of how securing Seth's services shows the ambition of this club. "Signing a young talent like Seth demonstrates the aspiration within this team and within this club, we simply aren't here to make up numbers in Yorkshire 4 and want to push on through the leagues. Attracting young talent like Seth also shows how the coaching team is planning for long term success, not just short term. These are players who can drive Dearne on for a number of years, if we continue to develop the positive environment we currently have."
